Bryson Aura Hendricks, of Mashpee, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Boston Children’s Hospital due to medical complications of a rare genetic immune deficiency that he battled from birth. He had endured a bone marrow transplant, and in the end, his little body was tired. He was just 4 years old.
Bryson was born on March 20, 2015 at Falmouth Hospital, and was the beloved son of Marcy Hendricks and Bryan Purdie. He was a true little warrior of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, and an adored member of the KC Coombs School community as a preschooler.
Bryson was the center of his family’s world. Despite his illnesses, he was a happy, loving, and bright boy and a true warrior. He loved the water and enjoyed spending time at the ocean. He smiled through every obstacle he was faced with; he was so brave. He loved to play and pretend and could often be found sporting his ‘Ben 10’ ominitrix. Bryson loved his food, chicken and purple Gatorade were some of his favorites. Bryson’s family enjoyed each milestone that their little warrior reached, most recently he had just begun telling jokes.
Bryson was strong, and fearless against the world as long as his family was by his side. He was truly their superhero and forever their baby boy. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Bryson is survived by his loving parents, Marcy Hendricks and father Bryan Purdie; his brother MaDarius Burgo; his sister Aquilla Hendricks; his grandmother Winona Hendricks; his grandmother Kimberly Frye, Sr.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation will be held at the Old Indian Meetinghouse, 410 Meetinghouse Road, in Mashpee from 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM, with a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Old Indian Cemetery.
