Dorothy I. Maciaga

Dottie Maciaga of Dennisport died peacefully after a brief illness.  She was predeceased by her mother, Julia Ellis, husband, Frank Maciaga, brothers Edward Ellis of Springfield and Victor Ingellis of Maryland, husband, Sidney Slifstein, and her beloved canine, Macabee.  She leaves behind her daughter and best friend, Cindy Maciaga of Boston and Yarmouth Port, her beloved dog, Bella, many nieces and nephews and some very dear friends.  All are the blessed recipients of her magical love, sense of humor and joy that they will cherish for eternity.

Dottie was the proud owner of Dottie's Inn Restaurant in Springfield and the Skipper Motel and Cottages in Dennisport, MA.  Helping to enrich childrens' lives, Dottie enjoyed teaching in the Title I program in Springfield.  She held several Board positions including one in the Dennis Motel Association and was the founder and facilitator of the Dennis Widow and Widower's Support Group in Dennis after the loss of her first husband.  She served as a volunteer in several organizations.

Besides savoring the wonderful adventures with her beloved family, Dottie was an accomplished golfer and tennis player.  She played competitively with the Women's Golf League of Dennis for several years.  Her retirement years were spent between Cape Cod and Naples, Fla.  She was also a playful member of the Red Hatter's.  Tending to her cottage gardens and preparing loving culinary delights for her family and friends, were two other enjoyable pastimes of hers.

Most of all, your loved ones thank you for every beautiful word you spoke to us and each loving look you bestowed upon us during your lifetime.

Burial services will be private for the immediate family.  Please consider a donation to one of the following in her memory:  the Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands - S.Dennis, NETRF.org, the VNA of Cape Cod or the Animal Rescue League of Boston - Brewster, MA.
