Dr. Norman Martin Starosta

Dr. Norman M. Starosta, who practiced dentistry in Falmouth, Massachusetts for 40 years, died peacefully on the morning of Saturday, February 8th at his home in Falmouth. He was 90.

Dr. Starosta was a Life Fellow at the International College of Dentists and at the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He was also a Life Member of the American Dental Association and served as Chairman/Secretary of the Cape Cod District Dental Society.

From 1953-1956, Dr. Starosta served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. He was on active duty at the U.S. Naval Base in Argentia, Newfoundland.

In Falmouth, Dr. Starosta was a long time Falmouth Town Meeting Member where he served on the Finance Committee and the School Building Needs Committee. He was a Corporator and Trustee of the Plymouth Savings Bank and served as Audit Committee Chairman. He was an Honorary Trustee at Eastern Bank.

“Bud”, as he was known by family and friends, was a competitive golfer and a member of the Woods Hole Golf Club for 61 years. He served on the Board of Governors for 8 years and was the Club’s President from 1979 - 1981. He was also a member of the Moorings Yacht and Country Club in Vero Beach, Florida where he and his wife Jayne had a home for 23 years.

Dr. Starosta graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster MA. He attended Tufts University and graduated cum laude from the Tufts School of Dental Medicine. From 1960-1969, he was an adjunct Instructor of operative dentistry at Tufts.

In 1953, Bud married the love of his life, Jayne Anne (Farquhar) Starosta, who predeceased him in 2015. Dr. Starosta is survived by his son Stephen, his daughter Jan and husband John Fitzpatrick, his son John and wife Lydia, his son Peter and wife Cynthia and his daughter Beth Starosta Fox. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: Hillary Fitzpatrick Peterson, Jake and Joseph Fitzpatrick, Hannah Fitzpatrick Hines, Annabelle, Nicholas and Claire Starosta, Henry and Theodore Starosta, Jack, Oliver and Charles Fox and one great grandchild, Lucia Fitzpatrick.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 13th, 4 to 7 pm at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 584 Route 28A in West Falmouth, MA. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 14th, 10 am at St. Patrick’s Church, Main Street, Falmouth, MA. All are welcome. Burial will be private.
