James B. Hennessey

James B. Hennessey, lifelong resident of East Bridgewater, died on February 4, 2020 at the age of 79. He was the son of the late Eleanor (Bussey) (Hennessey) Piekarski and Richard M. Hennessey.
James grew up in East Bridgewater, where he went to East Bridgewater High School and graduated a part of the 1959 Class. After High School, he went on to become a skilled mechanic. He worked for Toll Road Truck Equipment for 23 years as a truck builder and parts manager and eventually went on to work at the East Bridgewater Highway Department as a mechanic for 15 years before retiring. James and his wife, Selma (Bartlett), have been together for 61 years, and married for 59. He enjoyed saltwater fishing for blue fish out of Plymouth Bay, playing horseshoes, and working on small engines. James was the embodiment of “work hard, play hard”. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Loving husband of Selma A. “Penny” (Bartlett) Hennessey. Father of Joseph M. Zinni and partner Cindy Souza of Assonet, Michael R. Hennessey and fiancé Andrea Vasco of East Bridgewater, Kathryn J. Ferbert and partner John R. Dennis of Pembroke, and Kristyn J. Buckley and husband Paul of Plymouth. Predeceased by his son Richard E. Hennessey. Grandpa of Meghan M. Lagerval and her husband Jeremey of East Bridgewater, Kathryn E. Ferbert of Bridgewater, McKenzi Lee Hennessey of East Bridgewater, Emma R. Zinni of Assonet, and Michael R. Hennessey, Jr. of East Bridgewater. Great-Grandfather of Keegan Lennox Lagerval, and brother of June B. Foster of Ormond Beach, Florida. James is also survived by his beloved cat, Teddy.
Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, February 8th from 10:00AM to 1:00PM at the Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater. Burial will be held immediately following at the Northville Cemetery in East Bridgewater.
