EAST FALMOUTH - Leonard A. Marks, Sr., “Bumpo”, died peacefully at the Falmouth Hospital on November 29, 2019. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Theresa Marina Marks, “Mamma”. He worked as a mason for most of his life. He also worked at the Barnstable County Fair for 14 years as a year-round maintenance worker. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the Army which he served for 22 years. He was also in the National Guard.
He was involved with the Fresh Pond Holy Ghost Society since he was 14 years old. When he was young, he would serve peanuts and years later ice cream at the Holy Ghost Feast, while always wearing his homemade brown paper bag hat.
He loved bowling and looked forward to going every week. He could talk for hours about bowling to anyone who would listen. He loved to whistle and was always a very likeable happy guy with a big giving heart; always willing to give you his last dollar. He could play many instruments including the accordion, spoons, banjo, guitar, harmonica, and piano he would play for hours. He loved to sing and yodel and you could always find him tinkering on something.
Leonard was the son of Louis A. Marks, Sr. and Sophie Teixeira Marks (both deceased). The 2nd of 10 children, he was born on May 30, 1933 in East Falmouth.
He leaves behind 3 brothers, David, Bruce, and Kenny; and a sister, Kathleen Thomas Bagley.
