Ruth “Ginny” Waight

1922 ∼ 2020

FALMOUTH - Ruth “Ginny” Waight died peacefully Wednesday, March 18th at the Royal Megansett Nursing Home in North Falmouth MA at the age of 97. She was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert Waight. Born in Brockton MA to the late Andrew and Ruth (Chandler) Bismore.

She leaves behind 4 children: David Waight of Cambridge, Martha Barnes of Black Mtn. NC, Nancy Mars of Falmouth and Norman Waight of Falmouth; 2 granddaughters, Julie Barnes and Cherilyn Conn; a great granddaughter, Natalia Sterling; 2 step grandchildren, Jan Banks and David Barnes and 6 step grandchildren: Will, Sam, Abbie, Nick, Jasmin and Zumari; as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Andrew Conn.

Ginny was at one point an active member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church in Falmouth. She and her husband, Gil, moved over from Martha’s Vineyard to help build John Wesley. They both also served in the US Coast Guard where they met and married. Ginny died on their wedding anniversary.

A graveside service will be held at a later date on Martha’s Vineyard. A memorial service will also be planned at a later date at the John Wesley United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
