Steven K. Vokey “Uncle Stevie” died February 3, 2020 at his home in Falmouth at the tender age of 54. Steve was born in Dorchester and is the son of Elizabeth “Betty” (Dowling) and the late John R. Vokey, Sr. He is survived by his siblings, John R Vokey, Jr, of Falmouth, Kristin Vokey Muratore and spouse Mathew, of Plymouth, Scott Vokey and spouse Molly (Ames) of Mansfield, his nieces Rachael, Sara, Alexis, Emma, Kenzie, Peyton, Kerri, Meghan, Lauren, Brooke, and nephew, Brendan.
While in Dorchester, he attended St. Kevin’s before moving to Falmouth in 1973. He graduated from the Upper Cape Vocational School in 1984 and took night classes at the Harvard Extension School while working as a talented carpenter and cook at the Dome restaurant. He enjoyed his Blue I-Roc and his sports teams including ND, Patriots, 49ers, Red Sox, and Bruins.
He very much enjoyed making everyone laugh and in helping people especially those of age or in failing health. He was passionate in support of his family especially his parents, Betty & Dick, and relatives of them, however, his true passion was mentoring and motivating his most beloved nieces and nephew, each of whom had his/her own special “Uncle Stevie” nickname including Uncle, SarRach, Lex, Bubbles, Monsta, Fatso, Kea, Megzie, Sticks, Stooo-pid, his main man Felix along with siblings Brotha, Fav Sista, and Boo.
Visiting hours will be held from 8-9:30am at Chapman Cole & Gleason, 475 Main Street, Falmouth on Thursday February 13th followed by a memorial Mass at St Patrick’s Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth at 10am and a burial at St Joseph’s cemetery, Gifford Street, Falmouth.
